In Dronedeck you can now choose between 3 different methods for defining airspace volumes. For every mission you need to define the flight geography, operational volumen and grond risk buffer. Each volume depends on different factors like height, flight speed and size of the drone. Recently we updated the colors to reflect the colors used by the EASA in Regulation (EU) 2019/945.
Method 1 to 1
First method is 1 to 1 and that means that your ground risk buffer is equal to your flight height.
According to PDRA S01
The second is PDRA S01. With this method the risk buffer is determined on your flight height as stated in the PDRA S01.
For PDRA S01 the following table applies.
|
Height AGL |
MTOM < 10 Kg |
MTOW >= 10 Kg |
|
30m |
10m |
20m |
|
60m |
15m |
30m |
|
90m |
20m |
45m |
|
120m |
25m |
60m |
|
150m |
30m |
75m |

If you have an Operational Authorisation based on PDRA S01, you need to choose this method.
Ballistic method
The last method is the ballistic method where the risk buffer is also based on your flight height and the diameter of the drone. This is a more complex calculation.
The ballistic method is mostly used for operators that fly under an SORA. In the Netherlands most operators that had an "ROC" now fly under SORA ROABL.
